How AI Works in YourBuddy

YourBuddy uses Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic PBC, to power the companion chat.

What the AI Does

Responds to your wellness and longevity questions in natural language

Draws on your memory context to personalise responses over time

Generates your Longevity Score brief (Part 2, coming soon)

What the AI Cannot Do

Provide medical diagnoses or clinical advice

Access the internet or real-time information

Guarantee factual accuracy in all responses

Replace a qualified healthcare professional

How Responses Are Generated

Your messages, along with a system prompt defining YourBuddy's persona and constraints, are sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic processes this data per their privacy terms. YourBuddy does not train on your conversations.

AI Limitations

Large language models can produce plausible-sounding but incorrect information ("hallucinations"). Always verify important health information with a qualified professional.

Memory and Personalisation

YourBuddy maintains a rolling memory summary of topics from your conversations. This is used to make responses more relevant to you over time. You can request deletion of your memory data at any time by contacting privacy@yourbuddy.com.

Emergency Situations

If you describe symptoms of a medical emergency, YourBuddy will direct you to call 999 (UK) immediately. The AI is not a substitute for emergency services.
